The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

Warning! This book will kill you.
Published in 2012, this novel will “Give you a soul.” as one of my friends has said. I would  add that yes, it gives you a soul, but you immediately hand said soul back over to John Green. The Fault in Our Stars is about Hazel Grace Lanchester, a 16 year old girl with thyroid cancer. She attends a cancer support group, at her mothers insistence, and there at one of those meetings she meets Augustus Waters. Augustus and Hazel bond almost immediately over their love for books. They agree to read each other’s favorite novels. Augustus is appalled to find that Hazel’s favorite book, An Imperial Affliction by Peter Von Hoffman, (it doesn’t exist, I tried) ends without proper conclusion. I can’t say anymore without spoiling the book, but I rate it 5/5 bookish badges. ASDFGHJKL This book is so amazing! Go read it!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments Series #1)If you like action, adventure, fantasy, and a little bit of romance, then this book is for you! City of Bones, the first part of a six book series, is about Clary Fray, an ordinary girl who gets swept up into a magical world of angels and demons. This is called the Shadow World, a world that Clary, a mundane (human in Shadowhunter speak), shouldn’t be able to see. But then, Clary comes to find that she is actually supposed to be a Shadowhunter, a person who uses angelic powers to protect the mundane world from demons. Along her journey, she meets many Shadowhunters, both good and bad. Join Clary as she journeys into the Shadow World, and read a book you will never forget. I give this book 4.5 bookish badges and recommend it to ages 12 to 17. This is NOT a book you can read without reading the rest of the series so make sure to check out the next books as well. This is the book that the TV show Shadowhunters is based off of. Be sure to read this book if you will/is watching Shadowhunters!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief By Rick Riordan.

tumblr_n15xarfat01rjlhzjo1_1280 This first book in the Percy Jackson series is about a 12 year old boy named Percy Jackson. During a field trip, his math teacher turns into a monster and attacks him. His Greek teacher, who is actually a satyr (centaur), gives him a pen which can turn into a sword. He then uses the sword to attack the math teacher/monster.  To hide Percy from more monsters, his mom takes him away to the beach. When the trip takes a turn for the worst, his mom takes him to Camp Half-Blood. There, Percy finds out that he is a demigod (half human, half god). Soon after, Zeus loses his master lightning bolt, and he blames Percy. Percy then has to find the lightning bolt to prove his innocence. Will Percy find the lightning bolt and prove his innocence? Read The Lightning Thief to find out! I recommend this book to anyone over 11, but especially anyone who loves Greek mythology. You should also be prepared to read a lot, because there are 5 books in the series, and another 5 book spinoff series.
